In Ontario, enjoying time with family and friends at the cottage is synonymous with summer. But don't forget that fire doesn't take vacations. You are responsible for keeping your family and friends fire safe so minimize the risk of fire and burn injury by including these important fire safety tips in your vacation plans:
Always stay in the kitchen while cooking. Make sure cooking utensils, paper towels and anything else that can burn are kept a safe distance from the stove. Always keep a proper fitting lid near the stove when cooking. If a pot catches fire, slide the lid over the pot and turn off the stove. Cooking and drinking do not mix. Excessive alcohol use is a contributing factor in many cooking-related fires. Drink responsibly and keep an eye on those who do not.
For all Ontario homes, cottages, cabins and seasonal homes to have working . Test smoke alarms monthly and each time you return to the cottage. Pack new smoke alarms and batteries in case they need to be replaced. Early warning is critical to safely escaping a fire. It’s the law smoke alarms on every storey and outside all sleeping areas
Make sure everyone in your cottage knows what to do if the smoke alarms sound, if possible, and determine who will be responsible for helping young children, older adults or anyone else who may need assistance to escape a fire. Plan two ways out of every room

Here Chris shares a great tip on Pension Planning Regina
" A client of mine emailed me last week saying that her previous employer told her she had 2 options with her pension; leave it where it was or move it to another pension plan. They were wrong!!.
- Qualified people can make us aware of more options - Some options require more from you - Advice is great!
Generally speaking, the administrators of a pension plan are not really involved in things like financial planning and understanding your investment personality in order to recommend a good fit. They do what their job title says - they administer. This can actually leave you with more responsibility for your financial future.
You will likely need to do your own research within the limits of the investments that company's pension plan offers, you may need to work out your own asset allocation and you may have to do all your own income calculations for retirement. When it comes to financial matters, one of my clients put it really well. He could tell that my "financial universe was bigger" - his way of saying I am at the centre of more information, more knowledge and more financial matters come to light in my office than in other people's everyday lives.
So, back to the pension. Sure enough, there is a third option, a Locked-In Retirement Account (LIRA). I often move the investments from a pension to a LIRA and the reasons are simple: I give advice, I help with the plan and I lend my information to your decision making.

When the condo owners at The LUXE Building wanted to See who's at the front door and get better security they partnered with Reed Security.
The Problem:
- Many multi-unit buildings can no longer (affordably) display the front door camera on their TV's.
- Occupants could previously view the front door camera on a TV channel when Shaw Cable was the only cable TV option.
- The old TV solution is no longer a viable option because many multi unit tennants have a combination of Shaw Cable, MAX, Satelite TV, Internet TV, or no TV at all.
- Retrofitting a 24 suite finished building of this size with the old TV solution would cost more than $15,000.
